The park borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is in close proximity to the King's Palace and Ethnographic Museum in Nyanza.

Over the course of the 2-day trip, participants will have the opportunity to:

Go birdwatching in Nyungwe's diverse habitats, which are home to over 300 bird species, including 27 endemics found nowhere else in the world. Participants will have the chance to spot rare and colorful birds like the Rwenzori Turaco, Red-collared Babbler, Yellow eyed black Flycatcher, Blue-headed Sunbird and Ruwenzori Batis.

Hike through the lush montane rainforest, traversing suspension bridges and encountering a variety of primates, including chimpanzees, Angolan colobus monkeys, and L'Hoest's monkeys.

Visit the King's Palace in Nyanza, which provides insight into the rich cultural heritage and history of the Rwandan monarchy.

Explore the Ethnographic Museum in Nyanza, which showcases traditional Rwandan arts, crafts, and way of life.

This field trip offers a unique and immersive experience that combines Rwanda's renowned natural wonders with its cultural and historical significance. Nyungwe National Park is one of the most biodiverse regions in Africa, and the chance to observe rare and endemic birds, as well as primates, in their natural habitat is a truly special opportunity. The visit to the King's Palace and Ethnographic Museum provides context and appreciation for Rwanda's vibrant cultural legacy.

This field trip is highly relevant for biodiversity and nature conservation in Rwanda. Nyungwe National Park is a critical stronghold for numerous threatened and endangered species, and ecotourism like this helps to generate revenue and support the park's protection. By educating and inspiring participants about the importance of conserving Rwanda's natural heritage, this trip can foster greater appreciation and advocacy for biodiversity preservation efforts in the region.

As a team of experienced naturalists, wildlife biologists, and cultural historians, we are uniquely qualified to offer this comprehensive and enriching field trip experience. Our deep knowledge of Nyungwe's ecosystems, bird and primate species, and Rwanda's cultural traditions will ensure that participants come away with a profound understanding and appreciation for the natural and cultural wonders of this remarkable country.
