Writing for Publication in Peer-Review Journals: A 3-day collaborative workshop to inspire, upskill, and motivate emerging scientists from the global South to engage with global conversations and, through making their voices heard, help to enrich and bring diversity to global debates.

Developing writing skills for communicating results is a fundamental yet sometimes neglected aspect of formal training in science. It is essential to choose the right outlet and to understand the process of peer reviewing to increase the likelihood of being published. The proposed workshop will help attendees develop essential skills to allow them to create more effective manuscripts and navigate the publication process more confidently and efficiently. Over three days, attendees will receive two 1.5-hour training sessions in the morning (see programme) and will work individually on assignments during the afternoon, with feedback sessions with the organizers, and the possibility of one-on-one sessions (depending on numbers). The workshop will be particularly useful for young scientists from Africa. Indeed, our aim is to help increase the visibility of science produced in African countries. As Manager Editor and Editor-in-Chief of a scientific journal dedicated to tropical conservation science, we would love to receive more manuscripts submitted by scientists working in Africa, manuscripts that are in scope for the journal, have taken into account the publication form, and are clearly articulated. The number of participants will be limited to 20. Priority will be given to those who already have a preliminary analysis of their research, for the output of the workshop will be a micro-manuscript (1500–2000 words) produced by each attendee.
